Fine Art Yearbook

We didn't get the BA Graphic Design yearbook, but instead managed to bag the BA Fine Art one instead which is just a exciting to work on.

Our first meeting with the fine art tutor and students went quite well, we pitched our original ideas that we had originally submitted for the Graphic Design course and they picked up on several aspects that they liked and disliked to consider for their yearbook. One of the main things they liked was the layout and design direction that we had devleloped so this might be something that we should continue working on. Obviously concept had to be changed to reflect the fine art course, this was something that they needed to come with as it would be a a reflection of the Fine Art course and not Graphic Design's idea of Fine Art.

They had some nice ideas for what they hand in mind and provided some samples of other publications that they like elements of.

Turner Prize designed by APFEL.
One of the things that they really liked in terms of the type and layout for the spreads inside and particularly the typeface that they've used throughout for the headers.

Another publication that they really liked. Some of the elements they mentioned in particular were the layout, general design direction of it and the coloured stock. This was something we'd like to experiment with but not sure whether the budget would allow so will have to see how the preliminary print quotes turn out first.
The meeting went quite well, from this we have established a few key points of interest/action ready for the next point of contact:
- Fine Art course needs to come up with a concept
- Type focused front cover
- Need to get work photographed and collected
- Stocks, price and production costs
