Vancouver based design studio Glasfurd & Walker have a solid portfolio, with some very interesting design solutions and ideas. Really exciting stuff, particularly their concept, identity and branding materials for Bao Bei; a new Chinese Brassarie in Vancouver. Absolutely love this project, the visuals, ways it's executed and the design direction of the whole thing. The brasserie has a very relaxed and trendy feel to it with a influence from early 1900's chinese decor, which the brand identity reflects and blends well with.
It might be partly influenced by the subject and the personal interest in that, but in general the project it rather inspiring, reminded me that I should really try to incorporate more imagery into my work. I feel that in recent months, I've been working quite solidly within Type and layout, but feels that I've almost neglected the use of imagery and more hand crafted elements, which I should now consider more into my work! This could possibly be incorporated through the consideration of production and special finishes. Which means that I should test out and make more mockups of my design work, rather than just working solidly on the Mac from start to finish.
