With only 2 days planned to work on this brief from start to finish, I needed an idea that would allow me to produce something that would have a quick turnaround, something that would add to my portfolio and justified the reason for screen-printing them. After some initial brainstorming of ideas, mainly asking myself questions on what I want to achieve from this brief, the type of work I want to produce and the purpose that I want my designs to have, I came to conclusion that I wanted to produce something that had a very small print run, that simply had a strong impact and novelty idea behind it.
I wasn't too focused on using the pop up shop to make some money really as it wasn't the main reason why I decided to contribute to it. Instead I wanted to give myself a set deadline, a short brief to produce something quite different to the rest of the briefs I've been working on so far for this module.
So the concept I had was to produce a limited edition of posters, I wanted each one to be unique so decided to focus on the production side to drive the idea. In this case, it was the unique aspect of screenprinting. I've always wanted to experiment with mixing inks when screen-printing, which lead me to the idea of having a set number of prints, with each one having a slightly different colour but same design to it, which would essentially make them limited edition of one.
Initially I was thinking of having a limited series of 20 posters,; using only 2 colours such as blue & yellow for example. I would start poster 01 with 100% yellow for example and keep on adding blue gradually after 20 intervals until the final poster is a solid blue. (As shown below.) This would produce a set of 20 posters hopefully with each work working as individual, unique posters that represent the process of colour transformation.
