Spread development 02

Spent pretty much all day today working on the design context publication. Most the time was spent developing further ideas for the design direction of the publication itself. I have worked completely in black & white as the publication itself will be printed that way. I have decided not to use any tints of black because the printers that I will be using don't seem to print them out very well at all.

Rather than focusing on one spread at a time, I realise that the design approach will have to adapt to various different spread requirements, therefore I simply experimented with developing the different types of spreads so I get an idea of how the grid should work with structuring the publication.

Open publication - Free publishing - More design context

Some initial cover ideas, using the list of featured and interviewed studios at the front, acting almost as a preview/ line up of what's inside.

One of the details that runs throughout the publication to help pace and structure it are page breaks. These act as subheaders to break up the publication and helps to divide up the information into manageable section. These are the early developments of them.
